We have some EAL children - Does the initial phoneme example audio give the words to the kids?

In the sandbox on our teacher dashboard, there is a section called EAL - In there you'll find lots of useful information to support you for children with both EAL and additional needs.

One piece is a sample of each type of question being asked at this screening point as a video you can show them in class, another is a list of the words used so that you can make sure the assessment is a test of their phonemic awareness and letter knowledge rather than a test of their comprehension.

We would also strongly suggest that you use the "fake class" function to create a fake student and run the screener for yourself on a school device in the school environment, so you can see the questions they will be asked and be able to familiarise yourself with anything you may want to work with them on before.
